we had a really disappointing experience staying here. when we arrived, there were multiple issues that made us feel uncomfortable and unsafe, including plumbing problems, unexpected maintenance activity, and loud, unexplained banging noises. it wasn’t communicated to us ahead of time that someone would need to come into the unit, which made the situation worse. we were also surprised to find that basic necessities like hand soap were not provided, which is something you would expect from any stay. we were then relocated to another unit, but it was significantly smaller than what we originally booked, and we were still expected to pay the same full price of $444.44 for two nights. on top of that, the new unit was extremely hot and not comfortable to stay in. because of all of this, we had to book a hotel last minute, which was an added expense and inconvenience. we also had to go back and forth and really fight to receive a refund, which added even more stress to the situation.
Healing Homes is in a prime spot—right in the center of Back Bay. The studio itself is cute and cozy, with charming decor and easy access thanks to a digital lock. So far, so good, right? Well… then the bugs checked in. We’re talking insects, and yes—cockroaches. Fast-moving cockroaches that made us question our life choices and sleep with one eye open. We managed to catch one of them but nothing like the adrenaline rush of wondering if a roach will crawl on your face at 3 AM. To their credit, the hosts were very responsive. They sent a cleaning team who changed the sheets and tried to make things better. Unfortunately, the new sheets came with a little extra something: dried blood stains. Because nothing says “restful night” like wondering whose crime scene you’re sleeping in. In short: cute place, not a cute experience. We’ve informed Healing Homes and requested a refund, but as of now, it’s “under review.” We checked out yesterday and are waiting to hear back.
Excellent location but run down interior with multiple missing/broken fixtures and window blinds. Terrifically dirty windows. Had problems with both toilets and host was very responsive but issues persisted. Chose the unit for its two bathrooms but one was usually out of commission with my poor husband working to fix it. Clean but very loud at night with window a/c units but thankfully comfortable linens and beds. Large living space. Could be great with some basic investment to upgrade bathrooms and fixtures.
